Thomas J. Whale, CPA

Tom graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1987, where he received his BS in Accounting. Tom became a partner in a firm in Middlesex County before opening his own practice in 1997. Tom is experienced with small to medium size businesses, individuals, and not for profits. He also focuses on consulting, valuations, estates and trust work. He is a member of both the AICPA and NJSCPA. Tom resides in Little Silver with his wife, son and daughter. He has served the Little Silver community coaching softball, soccer and basketball. He also was the Treasurer of the Two Rivers Chapter of Le Tip International. Tom also plays on the Little Silver Men's Softball League.

Lorraine M. Kelly

Lorraine graduated from Rider College with a degree in accounting and began her career in the private industry working as an internal auditor for Sears, Roebuck & Company, and continued in internal audit with Amstar Corporation (Domino Sugar) and Johnson & Johnson. She gained extensive experience performing and supervising operational audits; encompassing every aspect of the business and reporting the results to senior management. After several years as a stay at home mom and volunteering her accounting services to Habitat for Humanity and Lakeridge Community Association as Treasurer and preparing tax returns for a small number of clients, Lorraine returned to the workplace; joining a small local public accounting firm. Lorraine also worked as a consultant for Insight Venture Partners, LLC assisting them in implementing a new fully integrated accounting system. She joined Thomas J, Whale & Company in 2007 and continues to work with a wide range of clients including individuals, LLS's, Corporations and Non-Profits. Lorraine enjoys working with children and has served as Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, softball coach and vice president of the McDivitt School PTA.

Miran Celmer, CPA

Miran received scholarships from New Jersey Society of CPA's and graduated with a BS degree from Richard Stockton College, earning "Program Distinction in Business Studies" in accounting. She started her career in private sector at Bally's Casino in Atlantic City, working in the General Ledger department. During this period, she obtained her certification as a CPA. Seeking more diverse accounting work and more control of her environment, she became the staff accountant at Medical One, a private group of doctors with four medical centers in the South Jersey area. When the opportunity arose to join a public accounting firm, she gained employment with Waters & Walling accounting firm in Toms River. While at Waters & Walling, she worked with a wide range of clients, including individuals, LLC's, corporations, non-profit organizations and specialized fire district audits. Miran joined Thomas J. Whale & Company in 2005 and enjoys the diverse and stimulating accounting and tax work for wide variety of clients.

Miran is an active member of her church and volunteers her time as accounting adviser and she also volunteers her time at the Jersey Coast Anglers Association. She is a member of the Woochung Korean Wives Club and currently serves of President of the club. Miran is a member of New Jersey Society of CPA's.

Ellen M. Dengler

Ellen graduated from Providence College with a degree in accounting. She worked in Public Accounting at Edelstein & Co. CPA's in Boston, MA. She conducted the audits and prepared the tax returns for a wide variety of clients. Through her years at Edelstein, she specialized in real estate partnerships and non-profits. While Ellen took time off to raise her three children, she volunteered for the PTO and the Little Silver Sports and Recreation Program. She returned to the accounting profession in 2008, working for David Viscomi, CPA. She joined our firm in February 2009.

Marie Schweers

Marie previously worked in the banking industry for Wachovia Securities and Advest as a licensed sales assistant. Marie joined our firm in February of 2009. She is responsible for billing, setting up appointments, putting tax returns together and assisting in write-ups for business clients. In 2007, she was appointed as the Ocean County Ambassador for the American Heart Association and has spoken at various functions on behalf of her son, Breton, who is a Heart Survivor. She also has done volunteer work at The Center in Asbury Park, a volunteer service organization that serves the needs of those with AIDS. Marie has two sons and lives in West Long Branch. She also attends school and is working towards her Bachelors Degree.

Albert Smuda, CPA

Al is an experienced Certified Public Accountant. His expertise encompasses financial reporting, accounting, financial projections, all aspects of corporate and individual tax, partnership, non-profit organization tax law and compliance and tax planning, as well as other business taxes. His industry experience includes retail, wholesale, construction, manufacturing and service. Al is familiar with implementing and utilizing various computer applications. He has an excellent, friendly client rapport. Al is an avid runner who enjoys competing in local races, marathons and triathlons.
